Texas is a british group of pop that was founded in 1985, in Scotland by Sharleen Spiteri (the singer), Ally McErlaine (the guitarist), Johnny McElhone and Stuart Kerr (the drummer).

The name of the group refers to the movie "Paris, Texas" of Wim Wenders.

With their single "I don't want a Lover", which sold two million copies, they are known for the first time.

Their first representation was in March 1988, at the University of Dundee in Scotland.
