It is a Scottish group formed in December, 1985 by the singer Sharleen Spiteri, the guitarist Ally McErlaine and the bass player Johnny McElhone. The group was known in 1989 with the single " I Don' t Want a Lover ", extracted by their first album Southside.

The latter was sold to two million copies worldwide.

They have create 9 albums and Sharleen Spiteri is the muse and the main face of the group and participates in the writing of number of songs, beside Johnny McElhone.

They also created famous title as:Thrill Has Gone (1989)

They are even known today with the release of their album in 2017 : Jump on Board
